The Downtown Arts District

Like SOHO, Tribeca and other well-known creative urban neighborhoods, the Downtown Arts District began its redevelopment in the ‘70s and ‘80s as numerous artist lofts and art galleries took root. Today, the district has transformed into an artistic mecca teaming with creative studios, performance squares, boutiques, cafés (including a nearby Urth Caffe), restaurants and underground nightlife. It makes for a neighborhood that’s full of energy and vibrancy, where everything you need is at your doorstep and you feel at one with the independent spirit of the surrounding area. And unlike many parts of LA, walking here is an acceptable mode of transportation.
